yesterday
i saw the movie "groove" directed by greg harrison. i went to this theatre "vidiots" near me. the movie was like pretty good, but the experience and all the people and the vibe was AWESOME. thats why i gave it a 5 stars on letterboxd. here is the outfit i wore, and since the movie is about rave culture it was fitting. the bright shirt was actually a coincidence but someone told me i was dressed for the occasion
top is thrifted ralph lauren polo. jeans are asos (fast fashion eugh i know im sorry) hand me downs from my older sister. bag is free people (its free at the checkout) i found it laying around. boots are frye and i got them from the flea market.
also welcome to this blog. claudette means "lame" in french. it also is "stylish" according to google ai overview. ok advice!
i went to a new thrift today and i bought these two pieces. both vintage. both $5. very stylish. the brown shirt's little white buttons are ADORABLE. i had to buy it. the sheepy sweater is 100% wool. on a scale from 1-itchy, this is about itc. not the full word, but like half of it. im kidding lololol (shut me up) anyways, both things were cute and cheap so i had to buy them. checkout sunset's vintage on sunset if you want a mid vintage store that might smell like vape *insert winky and heart eyes emojis*.
a random monday in march.. woohoo spring break!
morning. happy monday. it might be tuesday when your reading this, or even worse.....wednesday *insert scream sound effect*. my mom and i are going to the apple store today TO GET ME A COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!! can you believe it? i want to get the new model because its neon yellow. she says i will get bored of it, but i think she's just jealous because she already got a new laptop before the new colors dropped. ha ha ha ha. i will now walk to a cafe because im forcing myself to so i dont become a hermit lolol. enjoy my outfit.
tshirt is thrifted uniqulo, shorts are indigo reid, borrowed from my friend. ballet flats are Larroude (i think thats what it says, logo is worn down) borrowed/stolen from my mother. all my jewelry is from my friend's dead grandma (rest in peace grammy sanford!). bag is ofc my free people bag. me + this bag 4 life!
here is today's outfit. a simple uniqulo thrifted white tshirt, some jean shorts from my friend, some silver ballet flats, and a random blue sheer hankerchief (hankershief...? how do you spell it??) as a belt, that i found in a costume box. my whole outfit is very Tavi inspired. style rookie is my life source atp*. thank you Tavi for inspo!! i will now walk to the coffee shop. i'll tell you what i get there in a later post. ok anyways bye! peace and love
*atp translates to at this point........*insert cringing emoji*
i am writing this from the coffee shop...hi! i would love to tell you that on my walk i listened to some old bob dylan, or maybe some sade, or even bob marley? lets be real though, i listened to a podcast. still a vibe tho. there was this cool girl in the coffee shop and her outfit was AWESOME. very chic but like in a not trying way. she had on pocket-less levis low rises, and a cropped shirt that said something like "INK"...idk. i told her i liked her outfit and she said thank you and she sounded british; it was more like "thaunk yeaw" yk* what i mean? so epic.
*yk translates to "you know?/ya know?" oof.
on my way here, i saw 2 really random fliers. one of them was about a lost robot...i know...what the heck! and the other was about a hackey sack event or something. (please ignore the red marks, im just trying to gatekeep my awesome neighborhood! lolol)
as promised, i'll tell you what i got. i got organic swedish sour wildberry gummy fish, and a boxed water. thats my lunch i guess lolol. anyways! im gonna read on my kindle now. i'm currently reading Roald dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox. this movie is a masterpiece (thank you wes anderson), so i thought i would take it upon myself to reread the book. yay!
omg... you will not believe this. i was going through our den closet AND GUESS WHAT I FOUND. my kindergarten graduation dress. and guess what. it still fits. its very tight at the top, and its missing a button on the back, and its pretty short but omg its so cute. it's got these little flowers on it and its like a boat neck. adorbs! lemme show u
here is a side by side. I C O N I C !!!!!!!!! little marlowe was a diva. i styled it with brown cowboy boots, i mean.... truly epic. i was pretending to be shy in the right picture, as if i didnt have a solo in the song we sang 10 minutes later. also please ignore the ugly face i am making in the picture on the left. also the shorts are there because this dress is IMMACULATELY short and im trying to be modest. anyways, the dress is soooo cute.. maybe even coachella material? lolol. omw to the apple store now to pick up my (neon yellow) computer.
p e a c e a n d l o v e.
hey. if you couldnt tell by the way i said 'hey' i am so mad. about 2 things. first of all, i went to the apple store, and they said they didnt have the color of the computer i wanted in stock, so get this. i needa wait 2 WHOLE WEEKS. its ok, absence makes the heart grow stronger i guess. the other thing is that i cannot for the life of me find a freaking tankini. if you dont know what that is, its like a tanktop but swimsuit material. summer is sneaking up on me *insert creeping up sound effect that goes like duuuunun duuunun dunnun dunun dunundunundun...sorry i sound crazy* and i H A T E bikinis, and LITERALLY NOWHERE MAKES A CUTE TANKINI THAT IS LESS THAN $90. what. the. heck. whatevs, i'm mad. on the bright side... SANDY LIANG DROPPED THEIR SS26 COLLECTION AND IT IS THE CUTEST EVER. its of course so expensive, a la sandy liang (note to self: learn what 'a la' means!) but maybe i can put it on my bday list. *sigh* only 8 months. another good thing is that since i was sad they didnt have my computer in store, my mom let me get a book from barnes and noble, and i also got a coloring book. i know thats weird considering i am not 8 years old anymore, but im so excited to color it. anyways. i gotta go. peace and love!
p.s. my dog was looking at me for the whole time i was writing this, so here is a picture of her. everybody say hi indie
tuesday? more like tuesYAY. i am so sorry
heyyyyy! happy tuesday or any other dayyy. today, i have 0 plans (expect waking up late, doing yoga, and going to bed early), so i really just threw on an oufit to feel put together. lol. i may force myself to walk to cvs or something later, but for now im just eating lunch.
tshirt is from the flea market, with no tag (promise i'm not gatekeeping), and the jeans are thrifted old navy straightleg. the shoes are red steve madden kitten heels (thank you mother!) and the jewelry is obv my friends grandma (i grieve you every day grammy sanford).
today, my outfit was very simple. a red tshirt that reads "boundary waters", and a simple thrifted pair of jeans. oh and of course some red kitten heels. inspo was model off-duty/kate moss paparazziiiiiiiii. i wore this outfit for about an hour before i changed into my yoga attire. (note to self: find some cute activewear.) for lunch i had cold leftover homeade pizza and an orange. appetizing huh? stop the mouth watering, its disgusting. just kidding..#prisonfood! earlier i was browsing the sandy liang website and i came across the most jaw dropping tshirt.
of course its from the SS26 collection, but would you just look at the huge tag on the side of the shirt. TDF*!!!!!! so dolly and cute. a need!
*TDF translates to 'to die for'...sorry gen x'ers.
anyway, i will now read/play with clay (i'm sorry i know i sound as if i am 5 years old. i am not. *sigh*), see u l8r. peace and luv
heyy. its been a couple hours and i finished my yoga and my clay-making. im now working on a gift for my sisters birthday.
VIOLET IF YOU ARE READING THIS SCROLL TO THE NEXT PAGE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm not still not gonna say what it is because she might still be reading, but its gonna take me so long. lucky for me her birthday is in mid june, and its currently late march. can i finish it in 2 months? probably not. will i finish it no matter what? also probably not. i will try though. anyways thats it for nowwwww peace and love
wednesday.. ahhhhhh
heyyyy. good morning or afternoon or night. today has been pretty uneventful so far (i ate breakfast and did yoga), but i'm writing this as i wait to go to the thrift store. the one i'm going to is apparently LA's BIGGEST thrift. h e a v e n. i've been there like twice before i think but that was in like 5th or 6th grade. my mom and i are going to see if we can find some home decor, but if we're being honest...i'll probably just look for clothes for about 90% of the time. i remember the clothing selection being... let's just say not the best, but when i thrift i RUMMAGE. i do not mess around with the racks. i'll of course give you a haul later. byeyeyeyeye.
jeans are asos (thank you violet), shoes are adidas taekwandos, top is vintage Stretch (thank you violet), and bag is of course free people.
here is my outfit for todayyy. if you are ever bored just go through this blog and count how many times i wear this damn (sorry for language...lol) free people bag. if i had a penny for every time i wore it, i could retire early. anyways, i never wear a too complicated outfit when im going thrifting, as i need to be able to lock in while trying stuff on. p.s. thank you to my sister for lending me this shirt. also yes i stole itPEACE AND LOVEEEEE
IM BACKKKKK. my memory clearly lied to me. i said that i remembered the clothes being bad, but holy canoli i found the cutest stuff. it was also all so cheap. literally like $22 in total or something insane. heres a piccy of all of the things.
WHERE EVERYTHING IS FROM:
top left: sage green mini peacoat from Old Navyy
top middle: plaid mini dress from Old Navy
top right: white midi skirt from I.N.C.
bottom left: VS PINK foldover black capris
bottom right: Ralph Lauren Polo vintage straightleg jeans
as you can see i got a skirt, some jeans, some foldover capris, a dress and a jacket. the jacket was the best find. it was like a little pricier than the other things, but still amazing. it looks a little small, but i think its C H I C! ok anywaysss gotta go, i have a bass lesson. like bass guitar. ok love youuuu PEACE AND LOVE!
oh hiiii
morning morning morninggggg. i'm writing this very early in the morning, as today my best friend and my mom and i are going to ojaiiiii. super lit. we're going mainly for the thriftstores, but we'll hang out. here's my outfit: very soccer-ish. woohoo! go womens soccer.
jeans are....asos..again. shirt is a womens soccer jersey found in our costume box. bag is free people duh, and boots are my moms cowboy boots from the flea market.
i promise i washed the jeans. i swear. i literally could not be anymore serious. i pinky promise. the jersey was from my halloween costume from when i was 9. i thought it would be a cool idea to be a soccer player to impress these girls in my 4th grade class because they all played soccer. i actually ended up bailing on this costume like a week before halloween and i think i just ended up being like.. an angel or something? idk. moral of the story is, dont pick a costume to impress other people..especially if your mom payed $80 for the jersey!peaceandlove byeeeeeeee
heyyyyy. im back from ojai, and lemme just say.. the thrifting was very very good. the stores were all a bit hit or miss, but everything i got was adorable. here's a picture: (note to self: work on my digital collaging skills...)
WHERE EVERYTHING IS FROM:
top left: unnamed bag with waiters on it..chic!
top middle: silk chiffon dress from LUX
top right: orange pocket v-neck from Madewell
bottom left: buttoned blouse from Philosophy by Republic
bottom middle: neon green v-neck workout shirt from adidas
bottom right: unnamed pin that reads "I've Got A SNACKIN' ATTITUDE"
i'm soooo happy with everything. in total it was like $30 or something? such a good price, especially for REAL silk chiffon and REAL vintage adidas? plus a bag that resells for $130 on ebay. crushed itttttt. enjoy the haulllll peace and love.
TGIF!!!!!!!!!
good morning/evening/afternoon/night/anything else. today was a very chill day. im writing this before bed, but my day was extremely uneventful. my friend and i walked to cvs and then walked home. she left, i watched a movie (it was the Darjeeling Limited for you nosy people...thank you wes anderson!) and worked on my sister's gift. here is my outfit:
shirt is thrifted from goodwill, no brand. skirt os thrifted but the brand is I.N.C., boots are frye from the flea market, and the bag is (does anyone have a guess?)........... free people!!!!!!!
the swan over my face is there because i was of course making the ugliest face you've ever seen. the shirt im wearing says SPUSD.. aka South Pasadena Unified School District i think. its ironic because i did not purchase it in South Pasadena, but whatevs its cute. FINALLY! I'M NOT WEARING THOSE DAMN JEANS! instead im wearing my very cute skirt that i got from LA's biggest thrift. read a couple posts back to hear more about that. the fit was swag today, and my feet felt like they were gonna fall off on the walk to cvs. #swagneverstops. peace and loveeeee bye
erewhon (i couldn't think of a punny title)
heyheyheyhey. before i even start this post, i just wanna warn you that im wearing the jeans again. in fairness to me they are my only clean ones. which is surpising because i mostly post outfits wearing them. anywaysssss. today i walked to erewhon with my friend, and watched more movies (Fantastic Mr. Fox to be clear. thank you wes anderson!). i worked MOREEEEEEEEE on my sisters gift. oh i also did yoga! a pretty stereotypical day for me. heres my outfitttt:
top is thrifted Uniqlo, jeans are...asos..., shoes are red adidas taekwandos, and the bag is...well you know (if you don't know, read my past posts) pins are from various random places, and glasses were thrifted.
i spiced up my outfit by adding two little pins onto my tshirt. one of them was free from the silverlake flea market, and one of them was from my friend (thanks rin!). i also added thrifted sunglasses, and a blue scarf from our costume bin onto my bag. the fit was fire and very comfortable. by far my favorite outfit i've worn this month. ok peace and loveeeeee
sunday funday
whats uppppppp. today its sunday for me, and of course that means that i have yet another boring day ahead of me. woohoo spring break *sigh*. i still of course threw on a fit because the day might be boring, but that doesnt mean i am. heres what i wore:
the top is a thrifted ANGELS jersey, no brand. shorts are levis borrowed from my friend, and shoes are adidas taekwandos.
as you can see, im not wearing my usual free people bag because i am not leaving the house. #hermit. the emoji over my face is of course there because the faces i make in these 'candid' pictures usually look like something out of a horror movie. let me help you picture it. imagine jim carrey being halfway through the process of removing his prosthetics and SFX makeup after a day of shooting on the set of 'The Grinch'. thats the face i was making. im mostly kidding, it wasnt THAT bad (i hope). anyways, enjoy the outfit. p.s. i dont know anything about baseball expect for the fact that if you tell someone here (i live in LA) that you like the yankees they will rip your head off *insert heart eyes emoji*. if there is some sort of controversey surrounding the Angels for some reason, I AM NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THAT, I CANT AFFORD TO BE CANCELLED FOR WEARING THIS SHIRT. anywayssss. thats it for now peace and love.
monday monday monday
whats uppppp. today, i am going to my dads work with him as i dont have anything else to do with myself. lollllll. obviously, i still need to look presentable....so heres my outfit.
shirt is thrifted vintage adidas, jeans are cotton on, shoes are uggs from the flea market, and bag is free people duh
lets all ignore my messy room. hah. anyways, im wearing the shirt i got in ojaiiiiiiii, cute huh? i know. im not wearing my regular jeans...theyre dirty. so far the work day has been uneventful. i sat through a 20 minute meeting (longest period of time i've ever stayed quiet....basically junior hell.), played one round of mario kart (iwonbutwhocares), read two pages of Fantastic Mr. Fox, walked to a coffee shop, talked to this guy who manages like data and stats through apple i think, and looked at some runways. thats it. fun!!!!!!! i dont have a good outfit for coachella, so im gonna try to thrift something for one of the days at some point this week. woohoo. anyways, gotta go. peace and loveveve.
hump day!
happy wednesday or whatever other day. sorry for my lack of post yesterday. oops. my outfit was boring and i didnt do much sooooo. *insert cringing emoji*. ok anyways, lets look at my outfit.
shirt is second hand uniqulo, jeans are cotton on, shoes are second hand margiela tabi fakes, bag is F R E E P E O P L E, and sunnies are princess polly
only 2 things in this outfit are second hand, buttttttt its ok. also if you think that designer fakes are cheap, I DONT CARE. guess whos still wearing them? ME. ha ha ha ha. today, i went to erewhon and walked around sunset with my daddddd. also if for some reason you think that i "rewear my clothes too often" or something, THATS BECAUSE YOUR SUPPOSED TO REWEAR CLOTHES. sorry for my anger. ugh anyways. i got sushi and kombucha from erewhon it was very appetizing.
also off topic but i hand sewed a little horse onto the back of it and i love it. its so cute and so like delicate and it looks soooo good.
it definitely looks better in person, but im feeling crafty for sure. let me cook. ok thats it peace and loveeeee
recent inspo
this is kind of different from what i usually post but i thought i'd share some runway and just general fashion inspo i've collected recently.
miu miu Paris FW26
im starting off with my favorite look i found. this miu miu Paris FW26 look made me gasp. this beautiful linen dress is stunning. for some reason the wrinkles actually elevate it, and of course that little tie is beautiful. very hand-made chic. i love the dress by itself, but its totally elevated when paired with the bag. oh my gosh this bag. wow wow wow wow. im in love. the subtle miu miu logo with the beautiful brown leather and fur is adorable. also of course the studs and the latch to close it! my favorite look of the season.
Calvin Klein SS26 look 6
this runway definitely was not my favorite, however this look i loved. i like how you cant really tell if its a suit or a top because of the deep black color. the runway lighting was really nice so bonus points for that. the bag is also very interesting? the detail of the strap being hand-held instead of held on the shoulder is very nice. the black boots are also paired nicely with the outfit, almost blending together in a seamless yet chic way. the bare nails, minimal glam, and lack of jewelry make it feel effortless. obviously the white sheer bra makes it a bit dangerous, but still in a not-trying sort of way. amazing.
Comme des Garçons SS26 look 24
this runway was another one that had me questioning, but this look felt special to me. the other looks' main pieces were very layered with different patterns, materials, fabrics, and sizes, while this look was all one piece and a very unique single fabric. i always applaud the effort whenever anyone tries to do fur on the runway, considering it looks undeniably cheap 90% of tthe time, but here it looks costumey in a compelling way. you cant forget the almost pillowy cape/side accessory moment thats happening on the left side of the look. it makes it feel related to the other looks while remaining very much itself. the cone headpiece and pink fur neckpiece both feel like the perfect end touch to this look. the lack of jewelry is obviously perfect here, and the boots make it perfectly playful. such a nice and raw look.
CHANEL SS26 Haute Couture show
this look is beautiful. similar to the fur in the cdg look, bright pink is a really hard color to work with as it looks cheap or "too playful" a lot of time, but here its presented in a way that feels almost buisness-y, yet feminine and young. the signature long blazer is beautifully made with this almsot flamingo looking fabric, and a beautiful feathery trim. the sheer skirt with that same trim, paired with the shiny tights is by far the best part of it to me, making it unique and flowing on the runway. the pale yellow heels were a nice touch, tying it back together in a more sophisticated way. the earrings really stood out to me. i like how they kind of seem like costume jewelry but in the most mature way possible (does that make sense....?). the look also feels on brand for chanel without having to flash a big logo. i also like how its again a familiar sillouhette for chanel, but with a different color pallete and fabric of course. very very chic.
Dior FW26 look 81
i chose this shot in particular to honor these boots. im not a big boots guy, as i think they can easily look cowboy-ish and hefty, but these Dior boots are adorable. the gold studs with that harness detail on the side makes it simple yet chic, and the dior logo is placed in a way that feels elegant yet still playful and to the point. the cut is perfect, as if they were any taller they may feel bland and regular. the black sole is elegant, and overall these shoes are just beautiful.
Odessa A'zion for ELLE 2026
this one is different from the other looks ive showed so far, but i was reading ELLE, and this look from Odessa A'zion really stood out to me. first of all, i love how the shoes were paired with the coat and skirt set. the off-white of the boots compliments the black tulle of the skirt and coat in a way thats kind of trashy, but in the most fashionable way possible. i love it. i really love how the skirt and coat both feel like they could be worn with other pieces, but they are not any worse paired together. the belt/boots hybrid situation is very interesting to me, but i kind of love it. it makes the look more party-ish in a super fun way. last but not least, the fact that she kept her regular glam and hair with this crazy look just elevated it once again. this whole look was styled very well. props.
this has just been a couple of the more recent looks i've been liking, but there is much more to come. thanks for reading of course. peace and loveeeeeeeeeeeeee
LONG TIME NO SEE......
hey!!!!!!!!!!!!! i missed you so much. for you, it's probably not been that long (i hope), but for me its been like a week. or more! you missed a couple things. where do we even start. ok first of all, I'M TYPING THIS ON MY NEW LAPTOP!!!!!!! its everything. its bright yellowishgreen, its so smooth and so so so cute. ok second of all, COACHELLA! thats a whole story so that will be another post(s). its been a PACKED week, (again, especially with coachella), so read the next post to hear about that. peace and love!!!
coachella (pt.1, outfits.)
HIIIIIIIII. ok as promised, here's my coachella post. my outfits were simple and comfortable, because i don't want to look back at my FIRST coachella and be like "ew" so i made sure they were cute.
day one!!! for day one i wore the cutest babydoll dress. i also of course work my sneakers because why not its comfortable and cute. for my accessories i wore glasses, a small bag, and just plain white socks and black shorts. for my hair i put it in 2 braids and it was so cute. heres a pic.
dress is My Mum Made it, shoes are adidas Taekwandos, bag is Aritzia, jewelry is all second hand, glasses are thrifted.
as you can see the outfit was very cute. it was super super super comfortable. i loved this look the most (out of both days), and it honestly rekindled my love for this dress. i did TECHNICALLY buy it for coachella, but that was in like december, and i wasn't even going to wear it until i decided i should get my moneys worth. i decided that the day before day 1. lol. anyways, i feel like i'm now gonna wear this a lot this summer. i can also probably wear it as a top if i get any taller considering its prettyyyyyyy short.
day 2!!! for day 2, i did another all white look. i wore a simple skirt and top, paired with a belt, more jewelry, the same sneakers, glasses, and bag. i put my hair in a spiky bun. so cuteeee. this look was also very comfortable and timeless.
shirt is thrifted Uniqulo, skirt is thrifted I.N.C., bag is Aritzia, jewelry is all secondhand, belt is secondhand, shoes are adidas Taekwandos, and glasses are thrifted.
i originally planned to wear an oversized black shirt with this look, but it was gonna be way hot, so i switched to this white tee last minute. of course again, all the accesories are the same, except for this belt that my ex-friend's mom gave me at a garage sale. it was free! the picture is way big so you can see my outfit, as i am only taking up about 7% of this picture. i could have just cropped it to only me, but i felt like you should see the 3 guys behind me wearing british guard hats and matching plaid shorts, white shirts, and shoes. so cool. im jealous of their awesome outfits. shoot. do you think they'll contact an attorney if i wear the same thing next year? the view in this picture is also beautiful. i miss itttttttttttt. anyways, we had to go before day 3 because my sister needed to fly back to school, but both days was enough. yay! peace and loveeeeeeee.
coachella (pt. 2, experience.)
although the outfits are obviously a huge part of coachella, the experience is something else. where do i even start. oh wait i know. ok, get ready... this is big. if you dont listen to my podcast (stream play it by ear on spotify!), you probably dont know about my love for emma chamberlain. go listen if you want to know more. anyways... I MET HER. AHHHH! we were at the Dijon set, and we were leaving and i look next to me and i immediately recognize her hair. i of course ask for a picture, tell her i love her, and tell her how cute she looks. and then she tells me i look cute. dead. the next day i saw her a couple more times but i didnt want to seem weird so i just hung out but i think she may have noticed me? im delusional. i hate to be such a fan (especially during this mega-decade of influencer and celebrity craze), but shes an icon and i couldnt miss this oppurtunity. best day ever!!!!!!! ok so it would take me like a whole 10 pages to tell you everything about coachella, so jus listen to my podcast episode "my coachella experience" to hear about that. here is a few pictures i took over the weekend. enjoy>>>>>>>>>
ughhhhh. it was so much fun. genuinely! i am so so so so so luckyyyyyyyy. all the shows were so amazing, and evryones outfits were so cool. if you ever get the chance to go to coachella, or frankly any other festival or concert... DO IT! 9 out of 10 times its the best thing ever. my voice is gone, everything is sore, and i am half asleep while writing this; but if i didnt feel like that post-coachella, is it even coachella?!?! lollll anyways, i hope you liked all the pictures and stories as much as i did. ok peace and loveeeeeee bye.
recent outfits
instead of making a post about every outfit i wear, i'm gonna be showing you a few recent outfits i've loved. yay!
jane birkin.
for spirit week at my school, one of the themed days was '"dress as a celebrity day" and while most people dressed as a dodgers player, adam sandler, or an occasional billie eilish, i went the classic route. using only pieces i had in my closet instead of buying a whole thing for one single day, i dressed up as THEEEEE jane birkin herself. if you don't know who jane birkin is, she was a french singer who famously carried a basket around because every other bag didnt fit all of her necessities, and still look adorable. one day, on a flight she was trying to put her basket-purse away and everything spilled out of it. this was probably a common inconvenience that she experienced, but its especially frustrating on a plane. now, this is the interesting part. at this time, she happened to be sitting near the current big cheese of the infamous brand Hermès. he noticed this, and asked if she would be willing to collaborate with her to make a bag big enough and cute enough to satisfy her needs. together, they created the Birkin Bag. this $40,000 dollar bag works like this: you receive an email from the Hermès team basically INVITING you to spend 40 bands on a bag. now if you are middle class, like most people who dont own a birkin, this is an INSANE price. frankly, if you are upper class and DO own a birkin this is still craziness. most people with this bag treat it with the price in mind, aka... basically preserving it in a glass case. jane birkin is also famous for treating her bag like a reusable grocery bag. she would throw papers and notebooks in it, and throw all sorts of beads and bag charms onto it. heres a video to watch if you are a visual person like me:
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/920704717590161778/
she is such an icon and her style is so cool and inspiring. i like to believe we have similar hair colors, so it was valid fo rme to dress as her. this was my inspiration: a picture from her later years.
heres my outfit: i personally think i nailed it.
top and jeans are second-hand asos (IM SORRY I PROMISE I DONAT SUPPORT FAST FASHION), and shoes are Banana Republic ballet flats from my mom. jewelry is all second hand, and the bag is a birkin grocery bag from depop.
okkkkk so basically i am wearing 2 things from asos, but in fairness the top is my moms and the jeans were my sisters. i really love this bag because its convenient to throw stuff in to. anyways, ya jane birkin is so so so cool and one day i hope i can have a birkin just like her.
mall
i recently went to the mall to pick up a pair of jeans. i HATE the mall. i genuinely cannot understand why anyone would voluntarily DRIVE to the mall and purposely go to all of these mega-crowded stores with the most mid clothes you've ever seen. i used to be a bit of a mall-girl, and all 3 of my best friends LOVE the mall, but now i personally just dont really like any of it. unfortunately, thrifting a perfect pair of jeans is incredibly difficult, so because of this i have to go to the mall to get a nice-fitting pair of jeans. on this occas
jacket is second hand Aviator Nation, shorts are second hand Levi's, tank top is aritzia, and boots are second hand Frye. bag is ofc free peopleeeeee.
i know that aviator nation is a bit of a "preppy" brand, if you know what i mean. 10 year old girls going to sephora and then the beach who use a crap ton skincare and chemicals on their pre-pubescent faces. this brand is associated with a crowd that i dont really rock with. however, this is my moms jacket and i love the color. the jeans and boots and bag are common staples in my closet, so you've probably seen them before.
misc.
to end this post, i wanted to show you two little outfits. or sub-outfits if you will. careless outfits. the first one is my favorite uniqluo shirt with a hand-sewed horse patch on the back, paired with my favorite darkwash jeans. now the interesting part is the belt. i wore this combo (this shirt and belt) to coachella, and i really loved how it looked together, and i knew denim would elevate it x1000000. i was of course right. the cream + white of the shirt paired with the grey lace + washed denim looked SOOOOOO nice together. enjoy the picture above.
next, this is an older picture. i wore this is new york last october (its may now) and this top from aritzia is no longer apart of my closet, because i just didnt wear it enough and im always looking for more clothes. thats actually a rule i live by. i am working to curate my closet to be literally 100% ME. not "sometimes me" ALWAYSSSSS MEEEE. a capsule wardrobe if you will. anyways, this picture is of me walking down the streets of chelsea, ny wearing my favorite jeans, my cream tabis, that aritzia blue quarter sleeve, a thrifted black belt, and an aritzia bag as an accessory. i rediscovered this picture while skimming my sisters instagram posts while looking for some cute baby pictures of myself for a future post. looking back now, i dont know why i would flatter myself enough to think that my sister would have POSTED a baby picture of me on her instagram, but you never know .. right? anyways, look at the image above. thats it for now.. peace and love!
public inspiration.
recently, pedestrians and cars have been inspiring me a lot. those are two very random things that could inspire me, yet they both do. take a look:
2 stylish strangers
this first image is a picture of a man who walked into a starbucks wearing a bust-down light pink suit. tie, chain, and all. now in fairness to him, it was easter morning, so he had a reason to be in a suit. i think it was still just a bit of a shock to me to see such fancy attire in a starbucks. if you're wondering my order is a tall pink drink with light ice, no berries, and vanilla cold foam. and pepper egg bites. im pretty sure he got a coffee or something. i wish people wore more suits like casually because they look good and its kinda funny to wear it casually so like.... idk what im saying. lol. ok lets move on!
this next picture was taken at target. i think that a common misconception is that older people are not as stylish or something like that, but i actually think grannies have the best style. my grandma on my dad's side loves to thrift, so whenever i visit her, trust we are hitting Goodwill. my grandma on my moms side also has style, so maybe i get it from them. this woman in the picture above had a matching top in bag which made me kind of jealous. there is something kind of chic about matching patterns that arent exactly the same size. this lady nailed that. shes super cool. anyways, thats it for the strangers that inspired me recently.
cars.
i've never been THAT much of a car guy, but i have seen F1 and i did enjoy it (ferrari=😍). i also briefly collected hotwheels. i dont know that much about cars, but these two cars were both super cute.
this first car is a little yellow ford. i like this car because of the shape mostly. idk the model of it, but it kind of looked like a taxi cab. taxis are relatively uncommon in california, especially comparing those numbers to the cabs in new york. this wasnt a cab obviously, but the color had a striking resemblance. i also loved the headlights a lot. the shape is cute. ok lets move on to the next car.
